Two 12-year-old Waukesha girls are accused of stabbing their friend nearly to death in the woods to please a fictional character, Slenderman, a demonlike creature they learned about through a horror website, according to court documents. Investigators said that on Saturday, the girls took another 12-year-old into the woods, where one girl pushed the victim down and sat on her. The girls then traded the knife back and forth between them before one of them finally tackled the victim and began stabbing her, according to the complaint. The victim, who was stabbed 19 times, was left lying in the woods, but crawled to a road and was found by a bicyclist. Both girls were charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide on Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court. At least one of their lawyers is trying to move the case into juvenile court.
The girls told investigators that they had read about Slenderman on the horror website creepypasta.wikia.com. An administrator on the site said in a post on Tuesday that all stories on the site were fiction and that it “does not endorse or advocate for the killing, worship and otherwise replication of rituals of fictional works.”
