Multiple officers were shot in Baton Rouge on Sunday morning, according to news reports.
William Daniel, the city-parish’s chief administrative officer, told the Advocate that two police officers involved in the shooting have died. Police told the paper that the incident is related to an active-shooter situation, but further details were not immediately available.
Kip Holden, the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish,told CNN that the number of officers killed may be as high as three and that the victims may include officers and sheriff’s deputies.
“There is still an active scene,” he said. “They are investigating. Right now we are trying to get our arms around everything.”
Police said that the shooting occurred one mile from police headquarters and that the scene has been “contained,” according to the Associated Press.
